Five senior officers at Phahon Yothin police station in Bangkok have been transferred to inactive posts following a raid on a gambling den in Chatuchak district in which 65 gamblers were caught. Pol Maj Gen Panumas Boonyalak, commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s division 2, signed the order on Thursday to transfer the five officers to the division’s operations centre for 30 days pending an investigation. The officers were Pol Col Narat Moonlasartsathorn, chief of Phahon Yothin police station, Pol Lt Col Nikhom Sornlek, acting deputy chief responsible for crime suppression, Pol Lt Col Khomsan Bodikan, deputy chief responsible for investigation, Pol Maj Chalakorn Pandaeng, investigation chief, and Pol Capt Khanchit Khongsuwan, acting crime suppression chief. The gamblers included 45 men and 20 women. Gambling equipment and cash worth almost 200,000 baht were seized.
